Nestled between the hills of the Blue Ridge section of Appalachia is a small town of wandering forest freaks and fairy folk named Asheville, and from the slopes of these ancient mountains of North Carolina, one can hear the rhythmic thump-thumping signifying trance gatherings in full swing. Perhaps more than any other local collective, yet with the help of many, TOUCH Samadhi can be credited with a truly remarkable and magical achievement. Over the last few years, where normally lies a small, sleepy town has developed one of the richest pocket cultures of trance enthusiasts whose energy and talent have since spread across North America and beyond... a movement which has shaped and changed lives.

On March 2009, TOUCH Samadhi launches their first compilation, a representation of the different elements of a collective vibration which has been the source of countless smiles, stomps and sacred experiences for over a decade. Each artist and act contributing to this widely ranged compilation counts for years of experience in trance arrangement, performance, and production, amounting to a solidly sounding nine tunes from every style of the rainbow. This stellar playlist is but a small taste of a unique sound which until now was one of the South's most best kept secrets, and we think that upon listening, will be one which will keep you rotating many times over.

Annunaki - Seven Stars - Bastard Rework

The Appalachian electronic virtuosos known as Annunaki open up this compilation. With subtly powerful influences by Bastard, "Stars" sheds new light on an older school era of sound. Bouncy percussion exploits the dimensions of sound while ever-building rhythms lay on the acid thickly and keep the energy throbbing. Brilliant filter manipulations wrung with tension and groovy effects are the icing on this musical cake.

Annunaki - From Nibru

This duo project of Kri and The Fuzz ressurects the early sounds of Goa trance with a twenty-first century twist. RIch rhythm and melody continually morph the energy as expertly placed zaps and zoinks careen and collide panoramically. "From Nibru" is born to be heard outdoors where sand can grind between stomping toes.

Blue Spectral Monkey - Futurescope

BSM is certainly no stranger to psychedelic trance throughout North America, who has stomped to, enabled, and evoked beats for over ten years, which certainly shows in his music. Rich with elastic rhythms which vibrate at improbable frequencies, meaty, rolling basslines, liquid sweeps, and enough "Monkey" funk to bring out your simian side on the dancefloor.

Fuzz - Dark and Light

Fuzz nudges the mood slightly closer to the abyss with his track. Bass thick and deep as stew Propels echoed, pliable rhythms drenched with filtered resonation. Each sound sequence is tight and sharp and changes at just the right moments to catch your interest again and again in its subtly expert method of progression.

Bastard - Rotted

Alex the "Bastard" has made a clear name for himself for his unique mish-mashes of techno and psy-trance. "Rotted" is a great example of his ingenuity, from the powerful kicks and crisply warm bass to his holistic arrangement of sound which seems to both create and defy musical laws together in ways that you will certainly enjoy.

Dragon - Ritual of Fire

Dragon's name is known throughout the US for his raw, primal style of trance performance and production. "Ritual" carries his signature style, that of biting basslines and lift generating rhythms and leads which ping-pong the sound spectrum and never stay the same for more than a couple of beats, heating up even the coldest of dance spaces.

Primordial Ooze - Piper

This Chi-town duo blends colloidial bleepings and bloopings with all the playfulness of a couple of kids with a new science set. Ooze, consisting of artists SOT and Keyser Soze, forces its viscous vibrations into all of your nooks and crannies with every listen. As "Piper" demonstrates, it is clear how they have become such a highly sought after American substance of sound.

MediMonkz - Clad Romper (Medisin Rmx)

Portland's sapphire simian "Monkey" and Asheville's iconic sonic seamster "Medisin" teamed up on this peak-hour pulse quickener some time ago, which has rocked many a dancefloor since. For this compilation, Medisin has given this piece a near complete makeover, adding new, fresh technique reflective of today's musical evolutionary direction."Clad" has been built to take you places, with very distinctive moods from one end to another.

Axis Mundi - Break Allotment

TOUCH Samadhi's up-and-coming most recent addition finishes off this diverse compilation with a fast-paced stomper filled with fractious sounds, unrelenting percussion and rolling cats-purr bass. Uneven oscillations and periodic beat rearrangements dissassemble your ego as it reconstructs the mood in new directions, time and time again.
